Am I the only person who hates rock punk lesbians?
You know those chicks with short choppy hair, skinny jeans and black singlet cut shirts who play guitar? I think that is so unattractive.
To each their own.

Its not my thing either, well, not always...
Good lesbian/punk hair salons in bay area SF to Mountain Veiw?
I want to get a good short hair cut. I have thin hair but a lot of it, any ideas of what i should get and where i should go?
..uhhmm..you mean like punk themed or lesbian owned salons???..yeah..i wish i knew, but there's this place in the Montclair district in Oakland where i get my cut at and my hair is short and has it's "punk" appeal...it's a place called Shine...you should ask a girl named Cynthia to hook you up..the salons above a starbucks and you can see everyone in the streets from above...

Here's the link to Shine: www.shinethehairstudio.com/defaul…
LGBT: If a lesbian girl is a punk, is she a lipstick lesbian or butch?
Like if she loved rock music, dressed punk blah blah blah. Is she a butch lesbian or lipstick lesbian?
depends...need more details about them
I can't remember the name of this punk, lesbian Author from Canada.?
I read a book by her a couple years ago, and I don't remember the name of it. It was about a group of punk girls and guys, more in the LGBT scene. And the main character is best friends with this chick Cherry I think her name was? But she really wants this girl Sexy Caroline or something. I know this is very vague but I really wanted to read the book again. Any authors that could fit would help.
Justin beiber?
Haha just guyding
Lesbian and Bi girls: do you find the punk and or emo style attractive?
Not necessarily the personality but the clothes, hair and makeup?
not so much punk, but i like the emo/scene style ;)
Angry lesbian feminist punk-rock girlysound music?
I'm really into the angry lesbian feminist punk-rock girlysound music, but don't know of any artists. These would be all-girl groups.

Ability to play instruments a bonus, but not required.

Thanks!

Why do so many punk rock/gothic girls use lesbianism as a means of attention?
I know there are some punk rock/gothic girls who ARE lesbians, but why do most of them seem like they wear the rainbow flags and claim lesbianism just for attention? I've had several of these girls in high school (none of them were really gay or bisexual but just using it for attention).

And please, no "well I'm a punk rocker and I'm a lesbian" comments. I already know there are rocker/gothic girls who are lesbians. I'm just asking why so many of the straight ones use it as a means of getting attention.
i've never heard of this but i know many girls pretend to be bisexual to look cool and tease men. that's just nasty especially when they are feeling each other up in clubs and snogging for attention then everybody says 'oh they said they are bisexual' they labels us 'real' bisexuals like that and think that we do that. that is one reason why the bi community are labelled as promiscuous when actually many are not and are very fussy with who they date

e.g. 'me' that's why i've been single for over a year because i have high standards
What is the major difference between Punk and Post-Punk?
Do I get it right: Post-Punk came after Punk? If this is right how can Punk and Post-Punk co-exist at the same time nowadays?

Y!A proposed me to post my question in the following categories - any idea why?

# Education & Reference > Words & Wordplay
# Society & Culture > Languages
# Society & Culture > Cultures & Groups > Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered
# Social Science > Sociology
# Science & Mathematics > Geography
The name "post-punk" is deceiving, because it didn't really come after punk. Rather, post-punk is more of an elaborated and embellished version of punk while still maintaining the same ethic of the punk bands.
Starting in the 70's, musicians began to become jaded with the punk movement. Some believed it to be straying from its original ethos, with bands like The Clash making tones of money by writing songs about rebellion (see the lyrics of 'Punk is Dead' by Crass for a more elaborate description of what was happening) and some just wanted to create, instead of destroy. There is a famous quote form John Lydon (formerly Johnny Rotten, fronton of the Sex Pistols) where he says at his last show with The Sex Pistols, "Ever feel like you've been cheated?" That is where post-punk was coming from, and post-punkers knew that they had to "rip everything up and start again" . Instead of "No Future", there was a future, and this was in post-punk. John Lydon went on to form Public Image Ltd., and released one of the most monumental post-punk records, 'Metal Box'. Others post-punk musicians began to experiment and elaborate their style, and as a whole created a far more "arty", "intellectual" and "positive" music than what punk was, but maintained the original ethic (a DIY and think-for-yourself approach to everything).
Some musicians took to the experimental the avant-garde, like Industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle. Some added dreamy, dreary and weird synth sounds, like Tubeway Army and Cabaret Voltaire. Some created what was considered "art music", like The Talking Heads and Wire. The most well known post-punk bands, The Cure and Joy Division, created some of the most authentically bleak, dark, and introspective music out there. Others were equally dark, but in a far more raw energetic way, mixing tribal drumming, dominating bass and droning, atmospheric guitars (like The Sex Gang Guyren, Ausgang, UK Decay, Bauhuas, and pioneers of early Gothrock).
As you can see, it took many different directions, although all was united under the term "post-punk."
More famous post-punk bands (that I have not already mentioned) you may know, include Modern English, U2, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Echo and the Bunnymen, Gang of Four, Psychedelic Furs, The Church, Devo, My Bloody Valentine, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Birthday Party, Pixies, The Smiths, Killing Joke, The Fall, Soft Cell, Sonic Youth, XTC and Mission of Burma.
It is a genuinely fascinating genre, and I urge you to visit the following sites for more information if you are interested.

Some of my favorite songs include :
The Cure : Play For Today : www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmbOLTWgg…
Malaria! : Your Turn to Run : www.youtube.com/watch?v=an2rBx3Hx…
Mission of Burma : Outlaw : www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKa65O-xx…
Bauhaus : Dark Entries : www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DPOhr9AE…
Joy Division : Disorder : www.youtube.com/watch?v=PldpBJEn4…
Xmal Deutschland : Augenblick : www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoU5H-Xnn…
Danse Society : Ambition : www.youtube.com/watch?v=--43UNTIN…
Teenage Jesus and the Jerks : Orphans : www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLUUDZdKx…

Nowadays, post-punk has sort of tried to make a comeback with "revival" bands. These bands are influenced by classics like Joy Division, The Cure, and Bauhaus, and try to make a similar sound.

New post-punk bands that I love are The Prids: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfx6NTR3o…
And Blank Dogs : www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaNzHjGzd…
Hope that has helped!

To the person above: Goth rock is sort of like a sub-genre to post-punk. It's post-punk with a dark edge.
I need a punk look with some gangstaness mixed in?
i love rap and hadcore rock lol, so that really confuses me bout my style..
i like the 'ghetto style' with baggy jeans and a tanktop, but im a girl and dont want to look like a lesbian. what do u think?
I also like gothy punk style to tho..
anyone no a mix of these?
All stereotypes.
But i would suggest getting a handful of confetti, throwing it over your head and screaming:
FML!
Wear darker colors not pink.
Punk style isn't necessarily lesbian, is it?
One of the guys in my class tells me I sometimes dress like a lesbian. I asked him, what in his definition makes me look like a lesbian. He says "oh well because you dress like a punk so you look lesbian". I wear band or logo tees as well as plain ones (all fitted though), jeans (sometimes skinny - if so then bright colours - but mostly bootcut and flared. Also, shorts, but if I wear them, they're blue or white denim, or pinstriped, and always above the knee.I also love my black converse but am not adverse to flats and flipflops. I guess in my opinion I am a little on the punkier/grunge side, but not exactly to the exteme or anything. I mean today for example I'm wearing blue flared jeans, a plain red full-sleeves top and black flats.
How is that lesbian? and if you think it is, how can I avoid it? I'm not saying anything against lesbians but I don't want to look like one because I'm not one.
I would just ignore that guy in your class. Obviously he does not know anything.

The punk culture and gay culture are nothing a like. I can understand that if you dress like a man why he would be saying that stuff to you, but from what you described, you dont seem like you do dress like a man.

if it really does bother you, than maybe you could girly it up a bit. Wear ballet flats more. You can find tons of cool ones. Buy ones with skulls or a pattern that you like. Vans make checkered ballet flats that are pretty cool. Wear a dress one day. It could be all black, and maybe you could wear it with your black converse.
